IGP Orders Security Reinforcement in Bokkos, Deploys AIG for Operational Assessment
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has deployed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 4 Headquarters, Makurdi, Dankombo F. Morris, to Plateau State for an operational assessment following recent attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area.
The deployment forms part of efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen security and restore normalcy in communities affected by the violence.
During the assessment visit on June 23, AIG Morris visited the Kawel community in Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area, where he met with community leaders, traditional rulers and other key stakeholders to evaluate the security situation and reinforce ongoing peace-building measures.
Speaking during the visit, the senior police officer conveyed the condolences of the Inspector-General of Police and the Force Management Team to families affected by the attacks. He assured residents that the Nigeria Police Force remained committed to apprehending those responsible and ensuring they face justice.

Morris stated that all lawful measures were being deployed to track down the perpetrators and prevent further incidents of violence in the area.
He also disclosed that, on the directive of the IGP, additional security assets had been deployed to Plateau State, particularly to affected communities in Bokkos Local Government Area, to bolster ongoing operations and enhance security presence.
The AIG urged residents to remain law-abiding and avoid reprisals that could undermine ongoing efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability.
As part of the visit, Morris paid courtesy calls on the Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, and the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba. During the meetings, he conveyed the condolences of the police leadership and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to working closely with the state government to address security challenges across the state.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders and other security agencies to safeguard lives and property, maintain public safety and support lasting peace in Plateau State and across the country.
