Kogi Police, Joint Forces Rescue 21 Kidnap Victims
The Kogi State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has rescued all 21 persons abducted in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.
The rescued victims include 15 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), according to a statement issued on Monday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat.
The development followed sustained intelligence-led operations by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other supporting security and auxiliary forces in the Egume axis and adjoining forests.
The command said the security forces had earlier rescued 10 of the abducted corps members from the Egume Forest before intensifying operations to locate and rescue the remaining victims.
According to the statement, sustained pressure from the security forces compelled the kidnappers to abandon the victims and flee the area.

“All twenty-one (21) persons abducted in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, including fifteen (15) members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), have been rescued,” the command said.
The rescued victims are currently receiving medical attention and undergoing debriefing as part of efforts to ascertain details surrounding their abduction and ordeal.
The police said one of the victims sustained a gunshot wound to the right leg and is receiving treatment, while no death was recorded during the rescue operation.
The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, commended the security personnel involved in the operation for their gallantry, professionalism and resilience.
He also appreciated residents of the affected communities for their cooperation and timely provision of credible information, which the command said contributed to the success of the operation.
The police commissioner assured residents that security operations were continuing to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure that they were brought to justice.
The command urged members of the public to remain calm and vigilant and to avoid circulating unverified information that could compromise ongoing security operations.
