Atiku Congratulates Prof Gwarzo on Emergence as Hausa Community Chancellor in Europe
Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2027 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo on his appointment as Chancellor of the Hausa Community in Europe.
Atiku described Gwarzo’s emergence as a well-deserved recognition of his longstanding contributions to the promotion of the Hausa language, culture and identity, as well as his commitment to the welfare of Hausa people in Nigeria and across the diaspora.
The former vice president conveyed the congratulatory message in a post on his official Facebook page.
Gwarzo’s appointment was announced by the Sarkin Hausawan Turai, Alhaji Surajo Jankado, during the 2026 International Hausa Day celebration held in Paris, France.
Atiku, who described Gwarzo as his “friend and brother”, said the appointment reflected years of consistent service to the Hausa community and its cultural heritage.

He added that Gwarzo had, over the years, dedicated himself to advancing the Hausa language, culture and identity while contributing to the welfare and development of Hausa people both in Nigeria and in the diaspora.
According to Atiku, the recognition was a product of Gwarzo’s sustained commitment and service to the community.
“Recognition of this kind does not come by accident; it comes to those who serve quietly and consistently,” he said.
Gwarzo’s appointment comes amid growing efforts by Hausa cultural organisations in Europe to strengthen the preservation and promotion of the language, traditions and identity of Hausa communities living outside Nigeria and other parts of West Africa.
The 2026 International Hausa Day celebration in Paris provided a platform for members of the Hausa community and cultural stakeholders to promote the language and celebrate their shared heritage.
Atiku’s congratulatory message adds to the recognition of Gwarzo’s role in cultural advocacy and efforts to strengthen connections between Hausa communities in Nigeria and those in the diaspora.
