Buratai Unveils Multiple Projects in Barracks and Other Army Stories

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai in his consistent efforts to enhance civil – military relations via achieving his vision “to have a professionally responsive Nigeria army in the discharge of its constitutional roles” has unveiled multiple intervention projects in Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos Plateau State.

The COAS was ably represented by the Commander Corps of Engineers Maj Gen JS Malu. Among the projects commissioned were the Remodeled Rhino Golf Club House and the rehabilitated road which leads to the Rhino Golf Course.

Similarly, the representative of the COAS inspected some ongoing projects and laid the foundation of Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Multi Purpose Dam which on completion will supply potable water to Barracks’ residents and the entire host community of Rukuba and Miango located in Jos, Plateau State.

Other ongoing projects inspected by the COAS include, the renovation work at St Sebastian Catholic Church, Central Mosque and 3 Division Training School. The COAS was also taken round the Barracks by the General Officer Commanding, Maj Gen Nuhu Angbazo for on spot inspection of completed projects and assessment of structures within the Barracks that require immediate attention. Among the structures inspected are the abandoned / dilapidated Corporal and Below Quarters (CBQ), 3 Division Hospital and Rhino Officers’ Mess.

All projects were funded by the Nigerian Army through the timely approval of the COAS under the supervision of the GOC of 3 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Nuhu Angbazo.

Nigerian Army Wins Big at Taekwando Competition

The 8th Edition of the Inspector General of Police (IGP’s) Open Taekwondo Championship, has ended, with the Nigerian Army Taekwando team, winning 7 medals.

The competition was held at the Civic Centre, in Port Hacourt, capital of Rivers State, from 24 to 28 July, 2019.

The championship, which drew participants from the 36 States of the Federation, as well as various Taekwondo Clubs across the country, also attracted international athletes from some West African countries.

About 250 Taekwondoists competed for honours and glory at the championship.

The Army’s Taekwondo team, made up of 12 athletes comprising 8 male and 4 female, featured in the exciting tourney.

At the end of the 4-day sporting extravaganza, the Army’s Taekwondo team carted away 4 Gold and 3 Bronze Medals.

The 7 medalists for the Army Taekwando team include Cpl ThankGod Abah (M) +87kg, Cpl Awoyele Olakunle (M) -74kg, Pte Alexander Daniel (M) -58kg, and Pte James Enomfom (F) -53kg, who all clinched gold medals.

While, LCpl Olanrewaju Abdulakeem(M) – 63kg, Pte Albert Walshak ( F) +73kg, and Pte, Abdulsalam Enebe (M) -58kg, all won bronze.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, has congratulated the team on their feats, while urging them to do more so as to win more laurels for the Army and the nation in future international contests.
