FCT Police Command Nabs 13 Members of Kidnapping Syndicates and Other Dangerous Criminals

FCT Police Command Nabs 13 Members of Kidnapping Syndicates and Other Dangerous Criminals

It is pertinent to inform the public that the Command has commenced a special joint operation to address emerging crimes and also beef up security across the Federal Capital Territory. This is part of effort adopted by the Command to address emerging incidents of kidnapping that was recorded in some remote communities that are surrounded by difficult terrain.

3. The Command has also reviewed its crime fighting measure across FCT, it is also deploying proactive and result oriented measures that will go a long way in tackling the emerging security concerns.

4. Suffice it to state that, the Command while collaborating with other security agencies to address the recent security concerns is also leveraging on the ample benefits of community policing to engage, solicit for the support and collaboration of residents and stakeholders in various communities.

5. On behalf of the Command, I wish to appreciate the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu NPM mni and the Honourable Minister of FCT, Mallam Muhammed Musa Bello for standing as pillar of support and providing the Command with necessary logistics to carry-out the ongoing operations.

6. While reassuring FCT residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives, property and provision of quality security service delivery, I wish to inform the public that the Command in the last couple of weeks has made notable achievement in its crime fighting effort. The following are, however, worthy of mention:-
1. SUSPECTS ARRESTED
 ARREST OF TWENTY-0NE (21) ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS
 ARREST OF EIGHT (8) SUSPECTED CAR SNATCHERS
 ARREST FOURTEEN (14) SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS
 ARREST OF FIVE (5) SUSPECTED DRUG PEDDLERS
 ARREST OF ONE (1) SUSPECTED FRAUDSTER
 TOTAL NUMBER OF SUSPECTS: FORTY-NINE (49)
2. EXHIBITS RECOVERED
 RECOVERY OF RECOVERY OF SEVEN (7) FIREARMS
 RECOVERY OF TWO (2) LIVE AMMUNITIONS
 RECOVERY OF TWELVE (12) CARS
 RECOVERY OF TWELVE (16) CUTLASSES
 RECOVERY OF CHARMS AND OTHER EXHIBITS

ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS
The recent Joint Operation launched by the security agencies to address emerging security concerns in parts of the Federal Capital Territory, especially the cases of kidnapping at some rural communities has begun to yield positive results. So far, a total of ten (10) persons reasonably suspected to be working with the syndicates behind this criminal act have been arrested and are currently under investigations. The suspects who were arrested around Rubochi, Kuje, Kwali and Abaji axis are:
i. Mohammad Umar ‘m’ 22 years
ii. Mohammed Abdusalam ‘m’ 18 years
iii. Abdullahi Bashir ‘m’ 17 years
iv. Abdulrazak Ibrahim ‘m’ 20 years
v. Ibrahim Dogosika ‘m’ 20 years
vi. Idris Ori ‘m’ 30 years
vii. Friday Taiye ‘m’ 22 years
viii. Abdullahi Ibrahim ‘m’ 30 years
ix. Garba Abubakar ‘m’ 25 years
x. Abdullahi Mohammed ‘m’ 35 years

Sequel to the ongoing investigation into a reported kidnap incident at Asokoro on 14th September, 2019, Police detectives from the Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad have arrested one Saadu Abubakar ‘m’ 23 years in connection with the incident. The suspect was arrested around Apo after the phone number used for the criminal act was traced to him. The Command is making concerted effort to arrest other persons involved in the criminal act.

Similarly, on 3rd October, 2019 following a tip-off Police detectives from the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad have arrested one Isiaku Shuiabu ‘m’ 20 years and Husseini Chiroma ‘m’ 45 years suspected to be members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate operating around Gargwada in Kuje area Council. The suspects were arrested at their hideout in a forest in Gwagwalada axis. The suspects have given useful information about some of their criminal activities in the axis. One single barrel Dane gun and one cutlass were recovered from the syndicate as exhibits.

In another development, Police detectives following a complaint have arrested one Opoma Bello Terry ‘m’ 24 years who specialize in sending threat messages to his unsuspecting victims through electronic mail. The suspect who operates from Lagos State sends messages to his victims threatening to assassinate or kidnap them if some specified amount of money is not paid to a designated bank account. During interrogation, he confessed that he is also a yahoo boy who only hunts for wealthy and highly placed personalities. He also noted that he hides under the said guise to extort money from his victim. The exhibits recovered from him include one laptop, one phone and some Nigerian and Ghanian mobile network SIM cards. He will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.

ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS/ RECOVERY OF SNATCHED CARS
Following separate coordinated operations launched by the Command to check car theft, Eleven (11) suspected stolen cars have been recovered from three notorious car snatching syndicates operating in some parts of Abuja. Some notorious suspects arrested in connection with the crime include: Suleiman Isa, Paul Emmanuel, Vandi Audu, Safiyanu Sale, Charles Ugwu, Biliya Uba, Michael Emmanuel Chibueze and Chinwe Ubani all male. The exhibits recovered from the smashed syndicates are: one silver colour Toyota Corolla with registration number AAA 618 DK, ash colour Toyota Corolla with reg. no. KRD 737 BG, golden colour Toyota Camry with reg. no. LND 952 CN, blue colour Toyota corolla with reg. no. KUJ 492 BE, dark blue Peugeot 406 with reg. no. FGE 50 BF, one Mazda 626 no registration no., golden colour Toyota Camry reg. no. LKJ 660 AV, green colour Toyota Camry reg. no. HD 573 ABC, maroon colour Toyota Sienna reg. no. SAN 444 AU and silver colour Peugeot 307 no registration number. Also recovered from one of the smashed car snatching syndicates is one locally fabricated pistol used for their operations.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED DRUG DEALERS/ RECOVERY OF FAKE DRUGS
Following a tip off, Police operatives from this Command have arrested one Chukwudi Okeke ‘m’ at Wazobia Park Zuba in possession of two large Ghana-must-go bags containing fake tramadol tablets. The drugs which comprise of paracetamol and Diclofenac were packaged in Tramadol branded packs. Relatedly, one Ibrahim Aminu, Mohammed Husseini, Ehis Adi and Okanu Kingsley all male have been arrested by police operatives for trading on illicit drugs. The suspects were arrested at Orozo, Area 11, Lugbe Car wash and Asokoro. The exhibits recovered from them include: wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and some bottles of fake codeine syrup. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.

ARREST OF ARMED ROBERRY SUSPECTS/RECOVERY OF FIREARMS
On 7th October, 2019 at about 1900hrs acting on information Police Operatives attached to the Command Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested one Danladi Saidu ‘m’ 22 years, Dauda Isa ‘m’ 23 years, Rilwan Tijani ‘m’ 25 years, Danjuma Alhassan 23years and Bilaminu Lawal 18 years at their hideout in Dei-dei while planning to carry out a major armed robbery operation. Three of the suspects have also confessed to their membership of cult group. The exhibits recovered includes two (2) pump action riffles, one(1) locally fabricated pistol, two(2) cartridges, an unregistered Gulf vehicle used for their operations and charms. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.

In another development, on 2nd October, 2019 at about 0200hrs Police operatives from Bwari Division while responding to a distress call arrested five notorious armed robbery suspects at a robbery scene in Kuchiko community. The suspects, Samson Bitrus ‘m’ 22yrs, Dogara Bitrus ‘m’ 18 years, Ibrahim Abdulamin ‘m’ 18 years and Sani Usman ‘m’ 20 years were arrested in possession of the following exhibits: Six (6) cutlasses, one (1) long knife, one (1) iron cutter, torch light, five (5) school bags and one bed sheet. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.

Similarly, On 6th October, 2019 at about 0800hrs acting on tip off, Police Operatives arrested one Chinedu Ebuka Okafor ‘m’ 23 years, Babangida Ali ‘m’ 22 years, Uzaifa Abdullahi ‘m’ 24 years, Maina Bello ‘m’ 20 years and Bashiru Idris ‘m’ 23 years at their hideout where they were plotting to rob a Bakery in Gwagwalada. The following exhibits were recovered from the suspects: six (6) cutlasses, fifteen (15) torches, six (6) necklaces, clothes and household items.

In another development, seven armed robbery suspects terrorizing parts of Gwagwalada have also been arrested by Police operatives following a discreet investigation. Two (2) pump action rifles and three cutlasses were recovered from the suspects as exhibits. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.

ARREST OF FRAUDSTER
On 15th September,2019 at about 1750hrs, following a discreet investigation, police operatives attached to the Command Anti-One chance Unit have arrested one Omale Ahmed ‘m’ 29 years who poses as a customer to defraud delivery companies. The suspect is notorious for taking delivery of goods he purchased online without making payment for it. When the ordered goods are delivered to him, the suspect presents a fabricated screenshot alert, stored in his phone, to the delivery agent as a confirmation of his payment for the product. The exhibits recovered from him include: three (3) sets of oven, four(4) pairs of shoes, household items and clothes valued at about Five Hundred Thousand (N 500,000). He will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.

ARREST OF A FAKE POLICE OFFICER
Following complaints received that a suspected young man has been parading himself as a Police officer and duping unsuspecting members of the public, Police detectives from this Command carried out a discreet investigation that led to the arrest of one John Tersoo ‘m’. It is pertinent to state that suspect who has never served in the Nigeria Police Force has been defrauding unsuspecting members of the public under the pretense that he is an Assistant Superintendent of Police. The suspect will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigation.
