NCS Gets 4 DCGs, 11 ACGs, Promotes other 2,722 Customs Officers

The Board of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has approved the appointment of four Deputy Comptroller Generals and eleven (11) Assistant Comptroller Generals as well as the promotion of 2,707 senior officers to various ranks with effect from 1st January, 2020.

A breakdown of the appointments includes:

* ACG Mohammed Abba-Kura
* ACG Saidu Galadima
* ACG Gimba Umar
* ACG Obi Ekwealor
* ACG Bede Anyanwu
*ACG Mohammed Uba Garba
* ACG Kayode Olusemire
* ACG Lena Oyama
* ACG Florence Inuk
* ACG Lami Wushishi

Some of the newly promoted Comptrollers are the Customs National PRO Joseph Attah, Babajide Adeniyi, Anthony Udeze, Suleiman Chiroma among others.

The full statistics of the board approval is as follows: DCGs 4, ACGs: 11, DC-CC=35, AC-DC=64, CSC-AC=118, SC-CSC=244, DSC-SC=339, ASC I-DSC=995, ASC II-ASCI=655 and IC-ASC II=257. Of the 2,707 senior officers promoted 204 are support staff.

The Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd) congratulated the newly appointed and promoted Officers. He further charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them.

*Customs Intercepts Fifteen Sacks of Pangolin Scales Worth Over 1.7 Billion in Lagos.*

The Nigeria Customs Service has again made Seizures of Fifteen Sacks of Pangolin Scales in Lagos..

This was revealed by the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service Col. Hammed Ibrahim Ali. (rtd). represented by the National P.R.O. Deputy Comptroller Joseph Attah in a Press Conference at the Nigeria Customs Service Training College in Ikeja..

Recall that the Service announced a Wildlife Seizure of Elephants Tusk and Pangolin Scales worth over Twenty Two Billion naira, two Months ago in Lagos.

“You will recall that Nigeria Customs Service acting on credible intelligence provided by our international partners announced wild life Seizure worth over N22 billion with arrested suspects currently facing prosecution.

In the course of further investigation to arrest other members of the gang, we received another credible intelligence from same international partner, wild life justice commission, and swiftly deployed our intelligence operatives with the Strike Force as a SWOT team. This led to the interception of One (1) Mercedes Benz Bus with registration number BGT 256 LG along Kudirat Abiola Way Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.

Upon 100% examination, the bus was found to contain the following:

Pangolin Scales by 35kg
Pangolin Scales by 54kg
Pangolin Scales by 64kg
Pangolin Scales by 66kg
Pangolin Scales by 58kg
Pangolin Scales by 50kg
Pangolin Scales by 73kg

Two suspects, Mr Salif Sanwidi and Mr Sunday Ebenyi have been arrested in connection with the Seizure and will soon be charged to court to answer for their crime..

“For the avoidance of doubt, illegal wild life trade contravenes Section 63 “e” and “g” of CEMA Cap 45 LFN 2004. Nigeria is a signatory to Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. As responsible member of the global community, we cannot allow our nation to be used as a conduit pipe for illegal trade on wild life” The PRO stated.

He further assured members of the public that, the Service is committed to the quarterly meeting with embassies of USA, UK and Germany and welcome on board other International organizations that are joining the fray.

The PRO also commended the wild life Justice Commission for their continued strong commitment to the course through provision of credible and actionable intelligence, including technical aids.

“We call on members of the Public to support the Service by providing timely information that will help us cripple this criminal network of illegal wild life trade through our Country” he added

“As a Service, we give assurances of strict confidentiality and swift action(s) that will yield positive results as in this instance case” The P.R.O stated.
