The Senate today at plenary admonishes the Comptroller General of Customs and Excise, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd.) for appearing before it in mufti.
This was consequent on a motion moved by the deputy Senate Leader, Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah that the Senate do receive the Comptroller General of Customs and Excise to brief the Distinguished Senate on the proposed retrospective duty payment on vehicles in Nigeria.
Relying on relevant sections of the Constitution of the Federal Republic and the Custom Act, the Senators wondered why the Comptroller General who is supervising a uniformed organization will refuse to wear uniform.
He was subsequently requested to appear before the Senate in full uniform on Wednesday, 22nd March, 2016.
