It has come to the notice of the management of Office of the Accountant-General that some former staff of PHCN are protesting none payment of their severance packages.
Consequently, the management met with the leaders of the Association of former PHCN staff and according to Director Special Duties Mr. Ikotun O. E, who stressed that out of the 30 batches of former staff of PHCN, the only outstanding payment to be made is that of batch 30.
Mr. Ikotun further said that the payment of the severance package for the said batch 30, whose cash backing was received only last Thursday 7th May, 2015 will be settled within the next two weeks. Also speaking on the issue the Director of administration Alhaji Aliyu G. Mohammed noted that he can perceive that there is a communication gap in the process of seeking for information on the processing of the severance package by the affected former PHCN staff.
Similarly, the members of the Association of the former PHCN staff led by their Secretary Mr. John S. Agbokhode, after the meeting with the management of OAGF, agreed that some of their erstwhile colleagues had received their payment notices.
Also speaking on the issue, the Joint Chairman of the Senior Staff of OAGF Chapter Mr. Edward Onoja reiterated that there is always a need for any aggrieved party to ensure proper consultation with the concerned office before resorting to public protest. He further said that non- receipt of the severance package by the former staff of PHCN could be due to wrong account numbers, wrong identification and / or issue of dormant account.
He therefore advised the leader of the former staff of the PHCN to urge their members to ensure that all their account details are correct so as to ensure prompt payment of the said severance package as and when due.
