The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Solomon E. Arase fdc, NPM, on Thursday, renewed old ties with the Nigerian Customs Service. This partnership is aimed at synergizing with the Nigerian Customs Service in tackling border crimes and advancing the capacity of Nigerian Customs Service in realizing their core mandate. The relationship became fruitful when the Comptroller-General of Customs paid a courtesy call on Nigeria Police leadership in Abuja.
The visiting Customs boss Col Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd), who was at the Force Headquarters with other senior officers of the Service used the occasion not only to renew their relationship, but also to seek police partnership in the area of information sharing, tackling border-related crimes, smuggling and also on ways to improve on the revenue capacity drive of the Customs.
In his response, IGP Arase promised to improve on the existing level of intelligence sharing with the Customs and to extend training opportunities to personnel of the Nigerian Customs Service towards building the capacity of Customs personnel as they strive to attain their mandate.
