The Senate today at plenary received the report of the Auditor General of the Federation on the audited accounts of some Federal Government Parastatals in accordance with section 85(2) of the 1999 constitution. The report was laid and committed to the Committee on Public Account.
Other reports submitted today include the report of the Committee on PovertyAlleviation on the National Poverty Eradication Commission and report of the Ad-hoc Committee on North East Development Commission bill. Both reports were laid and referred to the Committees on Poverty Alleviation and Ad Hoc Committee on North East Development Commission respectively.
Also today the Senate Considers the request of the President C-In-C on the confirmation of the nomination of Chairman and members of the Niger Delta Commission (NDDC) in accordance with section 2(2)(a) of the NDDC Act, 2000. The report was referred to the Committee on Niger Delta Commission and report back in two weeks.
Five bills were also passed first reading today. They are Chartered Institute of Stock brokers Act, Treaty to Establish African Economic Community Relating to Pan African Parliament, Utilities Charges Commission Act, Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency Act and Endangered Species (Control of International Traffic and Traffic ) Act.
