The Honourable Minister, Health, Professor Isaac Adewole, has defended its proposed 2017 Budget on Projects and Programs related to Nigerians in the Diaspora.
The budget defence which was held at the instance of the National Assembly, House of Representatives committee on Diaspora, in Abuja recently, was to ascertain the commitment of the health sector towards the welfare and protection of Nigerians abroad.
Speaking with journalists at the venue, Professor, Adewole said that the budget defence was beneficial to the Health Ministry because it would enable the Ministry re-priotise its needs and focus for the benefit of Nigerians in the diaspora.
The Chairperson of the Committee, Hon. Mrs. Rita Oji, in her remarks at the meeting urged the health ministry to make maximum use of the instrumentality of the National Assembly which is invested with the power of appropriation during budget planning for the benefit of Nigerians.
She said that her Committee was poised to assist concerned Ministries come up with good budget lines that would give preference to the needs and yearnings of Nigerians wherever they live
