Kebbi Controller of Prison Didn’t Issue Statement on Boko Haram

The attention of Nigerian Prisons Service Kebbi State Command, has been drawn to some online media publications, quoting the Controller of Prisons, CP Sani Adamu Potiskum as saying that he fought 360 Boko-Haram members while they intend to ambush his command.

The said statement attributed was fabricated and mischievously circulated, probably to achieve ulterior motives.

The Controller of Prison has no reason whatsoever to make that assertion and for emphasis he did not make nor issue the statement on Boko Haram.

The public is hereby urged to ignore the statement in its entirety.

Meanwhile, the Kebbi State Command of the Nigerian Prison Service, has decorated 196 newly promoted officers of the Command with their new ranks in the state capital.

The elevated officers were part of those promoted recently by the Controller-General of Prison, CGPS JA’AFARU AHMAD in his effort to break the yoke of staff stagnation in the service and to inculcate discipline and motivation for officers.

Addresing the affected staff shortly after their decoration ceremony, CP Potiskum expressed gratitude to the CGPS for demonstrating leadership qualities in facilitating the promotions exercise as well as improving the welfare and infrastructures in the prison servicrdeeming it fit to promote staff of the service and urged the newly decorated staff to reciprocate the gesture with discipline, hardworking, vigilance and dedication to duty.

Out-going Controller of Kaduna NPS Training School Decorates 26 Promoted Officers
It was a double celebration in PTS Kaduna as the decoration ceremony of the 26 newly promoted Officers (1DCP, 1SOP, 3PIP, 8SIP, 7IP, 1CPA, 3AIP and 1PA) coincided with the handing over of baton of leadership by the outgoing Commandant CP Ani Patrick Chikezie ESQ (who is proceeding on retirement), to the incoming Commandant CP Husseini Ibrahim Mohammed.
During the ceremony, the outgoing Commandant while delivering the Controller General of Prisons Ahmed Ja’afaru’s congratulatory message, charged all the promoted Staff to be more alive to their duties and responsibilities as promotion is a motivational force because to whom much is given, much more is expected. He urged all Staff to be more diligent, disciplined and innovative in order to allign with the Ahmed Ja’afaru led administration which is held in high esteem due to the numerous goodwill the Service is enjoying now as Staff and inmates alike have never had it so good in the history of the service as problems like promotion recession, logistics recession, drug nightmare, ill motivated staff and archaic structures are all in the past now.
In continuation, he sympathized with all Staff that lost out of the promotion and admonished them not to be demoralized and get truant because promotion is a privilege and not a right, that they should take it in good fate and wait for the appointed time.
At the end of his address, he admonished all Staff to be of good conduct and give the new Commandant all the needed support and cooperation as was the case during his administration.
The incoming CP who is a seasoned corrrections officer, well read and well traveled, having worked in numerous Prisons formations on different capacity was the immediate past Controller of Nassarawa State Command.
In his reaction, he thanked the outgoing Commandant and congratulated the celebrants while stating his readiness to work with all and Sundry for the development of the School and by extension the Service. He advised all Staff to be dutiful and law abiding as he will be friendly with all but a friend of none.
In appreciation on behalf of all the celebrants DCP Cecilia Avong the Incharge Welfare Unit by thanking both Commandants and Stated that the Staff will be more dedicated and diligent to service as they count themselves the lucky few out of numerous others who did not scale through the highly competitive promotion exercise.
Finally, the event was brought to an end as both Commandant’s proceeded to the Office for the proper handing over and taking over notes.
