Prerogative of Mercy: Osun Governor Releases five prison inmates

Prerogative of Mercy: Osun Governor Releases five prison inmates.
Five prisoners of the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison and Federal prison Ilesha have been released.
Pursuant to the advice and recommendations of the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, the Governor of the State of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, exercising his powers under the section 212 (1) (a) of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), has released five prison inmates.
Ogbeni  Aregbesola has graciously granted amnesty to the prison inmates, This was contained in the statement signed by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Dr Ajibola Basiru.
Dr. Basiru commended Governor Aregbesola for his commitment to justice sector reforms and prison decongestion
Herein under listed and presently, serving their jail terms at Federal Prison, Ilesha and Maximum Security Prison, Kirikiri Lagos are the freed prisoners :  Akeem Afolahan sentenced to death, but now freed, Olowoyo Oladipo sentenced to death, but now freed, Alaba Olagunjun Sentenced to death, but now freed, Olabisi Adediji sentenced to life imprisonment but now freed, and Oladapo Adediji Sentenced  to life imprisonment but now freed.

NPS Academy Hosts 40 Controllers for Advanced Command Course
The Ag. Commandant of the NPS Academy, Ijebu-Igbo CP B Oluwayiopese has officially declared the Advanced Command Course 2 open. The ceremony which was held at the auditorium of the school on Thursday 22nd Feb 2018 has 40 CPs as course participants in attendance.
Speaking at the event, the Commandant charged the participants to take outlined courses, syndicate work, class attendance and morning exercise very seriously.
 He also enjoined them to exhibit high standard of discipline throughout their stay in the school by abiding by the rules and regulations laid down.
This will be the 2nd Advance Command Course to hold at the PSA as the first and pioneering course was held in the year 2016. This course is a prerequisite for promotion to the ACG rank.
The Nigeria Prison Academy was officially opened in the year 2013 with DCG Shemfe as the first Commandant.
