The UNICEF provided both financial and technical support to ensure the idea of NAE came into frutution, working closely with the ministry of budget and national planning

According to Dr Zakari Lawal, Director M&E department in the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, the discodent manner of operations of several M&E Associations in Nigeria prompted the ministry to convened all stakeholders meeting for discussion on the need to have an umbrella body that will professionally coordinate the activities of M&E in Nigeria

Dr Zakari explained that, ” the MBNP met a discordant manner with which several M&E Associations embarrassed Nigeria at International Conferences by competing to claim the righful representative of Nigeria, reason why the ministry had no option than to move in to sanitise the area”

He described the journey giving birth to the NAE as an umbrella body as eventful, commencing from year 2012 to it’s formal registration in 2018.

Dr Zakari, then assured that, government through the Ministry of Budget and National Planning will work closely with the NAE in order to make the body attain it’s optimal functionality in it’s activities.

In his remark during the NAE 3rd Annual General Meeting and formal inauguration of the new NAE Executive Committee in Abuja, the Chairman Board of Trustees of the NAE, Dr Shamsudeen Usman, a former Minister of Budget and National Planning, commended the commitment and resilience of the stakeholders for coming this far with the bidy.

Dr Usman also commended the support and leadership of the Ministry of Budget and National Planning for seeing the emergence of a vibrant NAE, and also appreciated UNICEF Nigeria for consistent financial and technical support it has provided to the formation of NAE
