Why Kwara Govt is Undertaking Jebba, Oyun Waterworks Construction–Commissioner

The Commissioner for Water Resources in Kwara State, Hajia Arinola Lawal, said the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led administration, in fulfillment of its policy thrust, is desirous of given a sense of belonging to the people of Jebba community by ameliorating their water condition and improving their standard of living.

She made this known yesterday when her Ministry opened-up a ministerial brief on the proposed construction of Jebba and rehabilitation of Oyun Waterworks.

The brief followed the recent placement of an advertisement in two national newspapers by the Kwara State Government for the rehabilitation works.

At the meeting, together with Hajiya Lawal, were representatives from the State’s Ministry of Finance, Justice, Works, Water and KWIRS.

The Water Resources Commissioner, explained that the present administration, under the leadership of Governor Abdulrazaq, had great penchant for prudent management of resources, excellent maintenance of the existing infrastructural facilities, and high commitments to embark on new project towards the development of the state.

She stressed the importance of providing the Jebba community with a waterworks, as it has not been given one since the inception of the community, despite being close to the River Niger.

“As part of the dividend of democracy, and in tandem with the cardinal policy thrust of the present administration, it is noteworthy to inform members of the (MTB), that the ancient Jebba, even with its proximity to river Niger had never being provided with portable water supply, through waterworks since inception,” Lawal said.
