Police Ban Fireworks during Yuletide Season in Enugu

In view of the current yuletide season and the accompanying beehive of activities, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Ahmad AbdurRahman _*FIPCDS, FICMC, FCAI, MNIM*_ has reassured continued commitment of the Command to collaborate with Sister Security Agencies and relevant stakeholders to provide adequate security during and after the festive season.

2. The Commissioner further reiterates commitment to emplace appropriate policing strategy for the season, while ordering all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Operational Units of the Command to intensify efforts to effectively police security flashpoints as well as all the nooks and crannies of the State.

Consequently, he reaffirms and reminds residents of the State that ban on the procurement and setting-off of all kinds of fireworks (commonly called ‘knockouts’ or ‘bangers’) before, during and after the season is still in force. He, therefore, enjoins parents/guardians to pay close attention to the activities of their children/wards and caution them against procuring and setting-off the said fireworks, noting that violators of the ban will be made to face the full weight of the law.

4. To this end, the CP entreats Ndi Enugu, especially the youths, to remain law-abiding, vigilant and support the Police by promptly reporting acts of crime and criminality during this season to the nearest Police Station or by calling the Command’s hotlines on: 08032003702, 08075390883, 08086671202 or 08098880172; or via email on: [email protected]
