Why Wikki Times Publisher, Haruna Mohammed, was ‘Arrested’, Detained – Bauchi Police
The Bauchi State Police Command has explained why an online newspaper publisher, Haruna Mohammed, has been in their custody since yesterday.
PRNigeria gathered that Mohammed was whisked away by Police operatives, while covering the Presidential and National Assembly, NASS, elections in the State, on Saturday.
According to a media report, Mohammed, the Publisher of WikkiTimes, a Bauchi-based investigative online newspaper in Bauchi State, is being held at Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Bauchi Police Headquarters allegedly on order of the State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
Credible sources in Bauchi also confirmed to PRNigeria that Mohammed was arrested on Saturday at Duguri, the governor’s hometown in local council, where he was covering the election.

Before the arbitral arrest, Haruna was interviewing some women who were protesting that they submitted CVs but were not employed.
“During the course of the interview, the women started protesting that they would not vote.
“Soon, some hoodlums alleged to be supporters of the governor attempted to lynch him before the police whisked him away,” one of the sources said.
When contacted, the Bauchi Police Spokesperson, SP Ahmed M. Wakil, told PRNigeria that their Police Command was investigating a case of public incitement reported against the journalist.
“The police actually received a formal complaint that a journalist was inciting the electorate during Saturday’s general elections.
“That was why we quickly intervened to ensure we maintain law and order, especially at this period,” said SP Wakil.
