CNS Ogalla Honours Navy Volleyball Teams After Brilliant Tournament

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla has pledged better rewards for the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Spikers male and female teams following their impressive performance at the African Club Volleyball Championship in Tunisia.

The CNS made the pledge when he hosted the team on Tuesday at Naval Headquarters in Abuja.

The CNS, who was represented by Rear Admiral Keneth Ezete, Chief of Administration of the Naval headquarters, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and assured them of the service continued support.

“We are very proud of your performance in Tunisia. You have made the Nigerian Navy and the nation proud,” Rear Admiral Ezete said.

His word: “Monetary reward is a major factor that motivates sports men and women to excel, even though their passion for the sport is the driving force behind their dedication. This is a proven method of motivation, and we will definitely implement it.

“Once the CNS returns, I will personally relay the message to him. In addition to monetary rewards, we will also consider including sports men and women in the upcoming special recruitment of medical personnel.

“This initiative will not only provide them with additional career opportunities but also prevent those who are not currently in active service from seeking employment elsewhere for financial reasons.

“Moreover, I encourage you to explore other resourceful activities that can benefit you in your later years.”

The Naval Chief however urged them to pursue continuous education and develop additional skills that can serve as a source of income and support in your retirement years.

Earlier, Commemorating the team’s remarkable triumphs, Chairman CNS Skippers Volleyball Club, Commodore Muhammed Adamu Muye, applauded the team’s exceptional performances at both national and international levels, achieving remarkable success within just two years of its inception.

“The Chief of the Naval Staff Spikers Volleyball Club came into existence in 2021 following the approval from NHQ for the Team to take part in the Nigeria Volleyball League in order to restore NN’s lost glory in sports which has suffered over the years due to series of inactivities.

“The Chief of the Naval Staff Spikers Volleyball Club was established in 2021 to revive NN’s sporting prowess, which had waned over time. The team was assembled and underwent rigorous training, aiming to restore NN’s global recognition in volleyball.

“We express our sincere gratitude to the Chief of the Naval Staff for his support in recruiting players and approving allowances. The NAVSEC’s role in facilitating recruitment is also highly appreciated.

“We are immensely grateful to the COA, D Sports, and all stakeholders for their contributions to the team’s success. We pledge to continue excelling and bringing recognition to the NN in the world of sports,” he said.

Speaking further, he solicited for more support for a dedicated training camp, facilities,  accommodations and transportation.

“The NN could consider constructing a sports camp with an indoor and other recreational facilities in Abuja, and providing the team with a dedicated Coaster Bus for transportation”, he said.
