Army Arrests 4 Terrorist Collaborators in Zamfara, Kill 2 Gunmen in Kaduna
Troops of the Nigerian Army have recorded fresh operational successes in the North-West, arresting four suspected terrorist collaborators in Zamfara State and neutralising two suspected terrorists during an anti-cattle rustling operation in Kaduna State.
Military sources disclosed that the arrest of the four suspects was carried out by troops operating under Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY) during a cordon-and-search operation in Birnin Magaji Town, Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of June 20 by troops of the 1 Brigade with support from a technical support team of Operation Fansan Yamma, was based on actionable intelligence aimed at disrupting terrorist support networks in the area.
According to the sources, the suspects were arrested for allegedly serving as informants and collaborators for a notorious terrorist kingpin, Gwaska Dan Karami. They were accused of providing intelligence and other forms of logistical support to the criminal network, thereby facilitating terrorist activities within the region.
The suspects have been taken into custody and are being held at the Joint Intelligence Fusion Centre (JIFC) of Operation Fansan Yamma for further investigation and possible prosecution.

In a separate operation in Kaduna State, troops of the 4 Demonstration Battalion deployed at the Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) Foundation and Birnin Yero neutralised two suspected terrorists and recovered arms while responding to intelligence reports on cattle rustling activities in Igabi Local Government Area.
The operation was launched after troops received information on the activities of suspected terrorists rustling cattle in Lere Village. The troops swiftly mobilised and tracked the suspects to Rahama, where they made contact with the criminal elements.
A firefight ensued, during which two of the suspects were neutralised, while others fled the scene with gunshot wounds.
Items recovered during the operation included one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and two rustled cattle.
Military authorities, however, confirmed that one civilian was killed by the fleeing terrorists during the incident.
The recovered weapon and other items are in military custody, while efforts are ongoing to track down the remaining members of the group.
The military said the operations form part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks, disrupt their intelligence and logistics structures, and enhance security across states affected by insurgency, banditry and other violent crimes.
