Six APC Aspirants Reject Candidate Imposition in Baruten–Kaiama Reps Race
Six aspirants of the All Progressives Congress from Kaiama Local Government Area seeking the party’s House of Representatives ticket for the Baruten–Kaiama Federal Constituency have jointly rejected alleged moves to impose a candidate on the constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.
The aspirants made their position known after a meeting held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, where they resolved to protect the integrity of the democratic process and maintain unity within the APC in Kaiama.
The aspirants stated that although they remain loyal members of the party, the people and stakeholders of Kaiama must be allowed to determine who emerges as the preferred candidate for the House of Representatives seat.
According to the resolution reached at the meeting, all aspirants from Kaiama agreed to subject themselves to the collective decision of Kaiama elders, APC stakeholders, and party leaders in the selection of a consensus candidate.

They stressed that the unity of Kaiama and the broader Baruten–Kaiama Federal Constituency should take precedence over individual political ambitions.
The aspirants further appealed to communities and political stakeholders in Baruten Local Government Area to support only a candidate endorsed by Kaiama stakeholders rather than any externally imposed aspirant.
They also called on the national leadership of the All Progressives Congress, the Kwara State chapter of the party, and the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, to ensure that no candidate is imposed on the constituency.
“The integrity of the democratic process and the unity of the APC family in Kaiama must be protected,” the aspirants said.
They subsequently urged party members and supporters to remain calm, united and committed to the progress and electoral success of the APC ahead of the forthcoming elections.
