COAS Tasks New Recruits on Counter-Terrorism, Professional Conduct
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has charged newly trained soldiers of the 90 Regular Recruit Intake to be decisive in combating terrorism and other criminal activities while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and respect for human rights.
The Army Chief gave the charge on Saturday during the Passing Out Parade of the recruits at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State.
Addressing the graduating soldiers, Lieutenant General Shaibu said they would play a crucial role in ongoing military operations aimed at safeguarding Nigeria’s security and territorial integrity. He noted that the recruits had undergone rigorous military training, including Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency courses, which had adequately prepared them to confront the country’s security challenges.
According to him, the Nigerian Army remains committed to denying terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements any safe haven across the country. However, he stressed that all military operations must be conducted in strict compliance with the Rules of Engagement and the Law of Armed Conflict.
