NOUN Embarks on Advocacy Campaign in South-East
The Vice Chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria, Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu has continued his advocacy campaign in the South East of Nigeria for the second and final day, with the team visiting NOUN E-examination centre in Owerri.
While at the centre, he met with students after which he proceeded to the study centre all within the vicinity of Owerri, Imo State.
At the study centre, the Vice Chancellor praised the Director, Dr Theresa Atu and her staff for doing their job with “absolute pleasure and dedication” and urged them to maintain the tempor, saying that hard work always pays.
The Vice Chancellor met with law graduates of the university, who visited the centre to see him and to thank the university management and other stakeholders for the efforts being made to see the students start going to the Law School.
The graduates also asked the Vice Chancellor to continue with the efforts until the desired result is achieved.
They equally requested for the university management’s backing to their alumni of the law graduates from the university.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor informed them that the law establishing NOUN has made it explicit that management should not recognise, neither supports such associations.
He however assured the students that the management is ready to render other supports within the confines of the law.
Professor Abdalla Adamu also paid a visit to the Vice Chancellor of the Imo State University, Professor Victoria Adoabi Obasi, where he said he’s in Owerri on official assignment and felt he and his entourage needs to pay a visit to a sister university.
Professor Victoria Obasi, who was visibly elated, said she is highly honoured and extremely happy by the visit, and pledged to take the friendship between the two universities to higher level.
The National Open University Vice Chancellor also paid another visit to the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary and Non-Formal Education, Professor Florence Chizoba Emanalo in her office.
Professor Abdalla told the Commissioner, who is a facilitator at the National Open University of Nigeria, that he is visiting her office to seek collaboration and partnership as a critical ministry in the educational sector in Imo State and to thank her for helping the National Open University of Nigeria having the approval to retain the former civil service commission building as the NOUN study centre in Owerri.
The Vice Chancellor also asked the Commissioner to extend the appreciation of the management of the National Open University of Nigeria to His Excellency, Governor Rochas Okorocha for giving out the entire structure to the university.
