PRNigeria Fellow, Ex-Intern Bag Writing Awards at 2024 CJA
A PRNigeria Communication Fellow, Mr. Umar Farouk Bala, has won the “Best Feature Writer of the Year” award at the 2024 Campus Journalism Awards (CJA).
Similarly, Miss Rabi Ummi Umar, a Mass Communication student of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State, and a recent intern at the PRNigeria Abuja office, clinched the “Syndicated Writer of the Year” award.
The CJA, an annual event organized by Youths Digest, marked its 6th edition this year. The award ceremony was held at Cosmopolitan University, Abuja.
In addition to Bala and Ummi, 10 other campus journalists from among the 36 finalists received various awards during the ceremony.
PRNigeria reported that an impressive 373 entries were submitted for the 2024 CJA.

Umar Farouk Bala holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and International Relations from Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja.
He was one of the 10 trainees who participated in the maiden PRNigeria Young Communication Fellowship, Abuja phase, held in August this year.
During her internship at PRNigeria, Rabi Ummi created engaging video contents for PRNigeria’s YouTube channel.
Her efforts earned her a cash gift from Malam Yushau Shuaib, Editor-in-Chief of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, during a send-forth event held in her honor at the conclusion of her industrial training.
In his welcome address, Mr. Gidado Shuaib reflected on the impact of the journalism awards.
Gidado, the convener of the event, said: “Over the years, the CJA has provided young journalists with opportunities to network, gain exposure, and access resources that propel their careers.
“Many of our past winners have gone on to achieve remarkable feats, and seeing their growth fills us with pride.”
