Katsina Police Bust Drug Syndicate, Seize Tramadol Worth N3.5 Million
In a decisive move to clamp down on drug trafficking and substance abuse, the Katsina State Police Command has apprehended two suspected drug dealers and confiscated tramadol tablets valued at ₦3.5 million.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, who noted that the operation followed credible intelligence.
According to the statement, operatives of the Command on March 20, 2025, at around 4:00 p.m., arrested 27-year-old Murtala Salisu from Bare-bari village in Safana Local Government Area. He was found in possession of 2,084 sachets of suspected tramadol tablets.

Upon interrogation, Salisu reportedly confessed to sourcing the illicit drugs from a man identified only as Rabe, based in Nasarawa State. He also implicated one Tanimu Abubakar from Jibia Local Government Area as his accomplice. Both suspects are now in custody and have admitted to the offence, while investigations continue.
Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, reiterated the Command’s dedication to tackling drug-related crimes and ensuring public safety. He urged residents to support law enforcement efforts by providing timely and actionable information.
The police emphasized that the fight against drug abuse remains a top priority in safeguarding the future of Katsina State.
