Apapa Customs Sets New Revenue Record with N28.1bn in 24 Hours
The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded its highest-ever single-day revenue collection of N28.1 billion, generated within 24 hours.
The Customs Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, disclosed this in a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Isah Sulaiman, and made available to journalists in Lagos on Wednesday.
Oshoba said the latest figure surpassed the command’s previous single-day revenue record of N20.1 billion, achieved in September 2025.
He attributed the new milestone to sustained reforms, improved compliance among stakeholders, intelligence-driven interventions and enhanced efficiency in digital customs processes at Apapa Port.
The Comptroller also disclosed that the command generated N323 billion in revenue in July, describing the latest performance as evidence of the positive impact of ongoing reforms and improved operational efficiency.
According to him, revenue generation should not be viewed solely in terms of figures, but also in relation to its contribution to national development and the economic wellbeing of Nigerians.
«“Revenue generated by the service funds infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and other priorities that impact ordinary Nigerians,” he said.»
Oshoba dedicated the revenue milestone to the government and people of Nigeria, while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dr Bashir Adeniyi, for his support for the modernisation and transformation of the service.

He also commended the management of the NCS for advancing automation and other reforms designed to streamline customs operations, facilitate legitimate trade and create a more business-friendly environment.
The controller acknowledged the contributions of compliant importers, exporters, licensed customs agents and other stakeholders, describing their cooperation as critical to the command’s revenue performance.
He equally appreciated Nigerians who provided actionable intelligence to the service, stressing that compliance with customs regulations and legitimate trade practices remained essential to national development.
«“Stakeholders should continue supporting legitimate trade. A stronger revenue base gives the government greater capacity to respond to people’s needs,” he said.»
Oshoba, however, cautioned officers and men of the command against complacency, stressing that the new revenue record should serve as a greater responsibility to deliver more for the country.
He directed personnel to pursue revenue collection alongside effective trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders.
The Comptroller further instructed officers to ensure that legitimate disputes were resolved promptly, in order to prevent customs procedures from unnecessarily obstructing lawful businesses.
He reaffirmed the Apapa Area Command’s commitment to sustaining the momentum through improved revenue collection, enhanced trade facilitation and stronger collaboration with stakeholders in the interest of national economic development.
