NSCDC Operative Nabs COVID-19 patient who attempted to escape
It has emerged that a COVID-19 positive patient attempted to escape from isolation center in Kaduna without authorization.
Narrating the development, Corps Assistant Joshua Philip who was posted to Infectious Disease Control Center, Down Quarters, Kaduna South to provide security services in and around the isolation centre.
The suspected COVlD-l9 patient tried to leave the Center for morning prayers without the permission of doctors. A confrontation ensued between our personnel and the patient who forcefully picked the keys of the gate of the Center and tried to open the gate to escape.
The patient was arrested by Corps Assistant Joshua Philip who was among the officers on duty at the isolation center.
The Covid 19 index is said to have engaged the Civil Defence Officer Joshua Philip in serious fracas after he stopped him from leaving his quarantine ward at the isolation center, this exposed the officer to the patient of the Covid 19.
The keys were disinfected, despite that, the doctor gave the personnel some drugs; he was instructed to self-Isolation for two weeks and to call the Center if he develops any symptoms.
The Corps has since strengthened its security measures in the internal isolation centre.

In another development, an officer of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Assistant superintendent of Corps Victor Fayemi attached to Federal Capital Territory escaped death when a Volkswagen Golf Commercial driver escaping arrest ran over him along Gwarinpa/Kado road area of Abuja.
The accident knocked him unconscious and was rushed to Maitama District Hospital where he was promptly attended to. After specialized medical treatment at Maitama District Hospital, he was moved into a private hospital where he is currently receiving further treatment.
ASC fayemi was hit by the commercial driver who was trying to evading arrest by the security officers on duty as he defied coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown measures put in place by the federal government. Security agencies which comprises of Civil Defence Officers mounted road blocks in Gwarinpa/Kado road in an attempt to prevent the taxi’s from operating.
While the officer tried to stop the driver for questioning, he allegedly ran over the Civil Defence Officer and knocks him down.
The erratic driver was later arrested by the Joint Task Team (JTF), both the driver and the vehicle were taken into custody of Nigeria Police for further investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu said; the behaviour of the driver was unacceptable in the eyes of law enforcement, he advise people not to attempt to evade arrest under any circumstances, especially at this critical period when the world is facing with the challenge of Covid 19. He said, government needs the support and cooperation of all stakeholders in order to win the war of coronavirus.
