Hajj 2023: NAHCON to Operate Seven Clinics in Makkah

By Abdulrahman Abdulraheem, in Madinah

As the 2023 Hajj season approaches its business end with the movement of some of the pilgrims from Madinah to Makkah, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced plan to operate seven clinics in the Holy City in order to take adequate care of the worshippers.

The Head of NAHCON Medical Team, Dr. Usman Galadima, in a chat with members of the National Media Team, said three of the clinics had been fully established and are functional, while the remaining four will take off in the coming days.

He said the clinics would be established in areas with large concentration of Nigerian pilgrims.

Dr. Galadima stated that an average of 300 patients were attended to on a daily basis at the three clinics, saying the number might increase in the coming days as more pilgrims troop to Makkah.

According to the doctor, the most common illnesses the pilgrims complain about are malaria, respiratory issues, cough, cold etc.

He added that simple issues are addressed at the clinics while serious ones are referred to big hospitals in the city.

Dr. Galadima reiterated his earlier advice to pilgrims to religiously guard their health through eating good food, drinking water and maintaining a clean environment to prevent any outbreak of diseases.

He again cautioned the pilgrims against unnecessary loitering as the Saudi weather is harsh and could lead to dehydration and other medical issues.
