In continuation of clearance operations of the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists, troops of 7 Division in Operation LAFIYA DOLE have been making tremendous progress in their various areas of operational responsibilities. They were able to carry out clearance operations, raids and patrols that resulted in the killing of so many suspected Boko Haram terrorists, arrests and rescue of persons, as well as recovery of arms and ammunitions.
The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to a number of groups and individuals celebrating the routing out and decimation of Boko Haram terrorists on our soil. So much as we thank them for that, it is imperative to state that we do not begrudge such persons their desire to identify and associate themselves with this success. However, the Nigerian Army wishes to disassociate itself from such celebrations and solidarity rallies. We also would like to advice that they should tread with caution as this could be distractive to us. The public are please informed that the terrorists are surreptitiously fanning out of their last enclaves in Sambisa to cause havoc or seek refuge elsewhere.
Boko Haram terrorists have resorted to providing loans to young entrepreneurs and artisans in the North East as a way of inducing them for recruitment.
The leading elements of the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu’s leading convoy was about 8.30am this morning ambushed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists enroute to visit troops in Bama. Although 1 soldier loss his live and 2 others were injured, they were able to clear the ambush, killing some of the terrorists and recovered vehicle and weapons from them. The recovered items include a Toyota Hilux vehicle, 2 AK-47 rifles and several ammunitions.
Boko Haram terrorists attack troops of 113 Battalion at Kareto Northern Borno State. The troops have been battling the insurgents since early hours of today. Details to follow shortly.
On Saturday 16th April 2016, troops of 7 Division Strike Group Team B and 22 Task Force Brigade conducted a simultaneous dawn raid on suspected Boko Haram terrorists hideouts at Biggoro, Warpaya and Aura, North of Kumshe in Bama Local Government Area. The essence of the operation was stop the reported criminal activities of remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in the three villages. This became necessary as previous efforts were futile. The suspected terrorists kept coming in search for food, water and shelter.
Following a tip off troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE and some Civilian JTF today went on a clearance patrol to Borgozo-Alargano general area in which they discovered large cache of arms and ammunitions concealed by Boko Haram terrorists. The patrol team also cleared remnants of Boko Haram terrorists that were dislodged from Alagarno forest hibernating at Kadari, Camp Abu Fatima and Gursum.
In the early hours of Friday, some elements of Boko Haram terrorists in 5 gun trucks, motorcycles and 2 Golf cars laden with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from Sambisa forest axis attempted an attack on 121 Task Force Battalion at Pulka. The ever alert and vigilant troops rose to the occasion and successfully repelled the attack and killed 7 Boko Haram terrorists, wounded several others and recovered 4 AK-47 rifles, 3 AK-47 rifle magazine and 92 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) belt ammunition. We wish to state that our troops are hale and hearty.
The Nigerian Navy patrol team deployed from NNS PATHFINDER has arrested 06 persons suspected to be engaged in operations of illegal refinery and pipeline vandalism. The suspects who are now undergoing investigation were picked up from a large warehouse located at Ogbogoro Uzoba waterside around Choba in Port Harcourt Rivers State. The raid is in continuation of the Chief of the Naval Staff’s strong resolve to stamp out all forms of crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism, illegal refineries and other unwholesome activities that have impacted negatively on the security and economic development of Nigeria.
In continuation of the clearance of all known camps and hideouts of cattle rustlers, armed bandits and other criminals in the north west geo-political region of the country, troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army under the auspices of Operation SHARAN DAJI, have cleared suspected armed bandits camps in Zamfara and Katsina States today.

As part of his continuous engagement with stakeholders , The Comptroller General of Customs, Col Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd) rounded up a week long working visit to Lagos and other operational areas in the South West part of the country last weekend. During the visit, the Comptroller-General hosted members of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) to a forum where issues of mutual concerns were addressed. On the front burner of the forum was the concern expressed by the participants over the militating impact of the Central Bank of Nigeria's policy, banning some items from accessing its Forex Allocation. The Comptroller- General of Customs noted that the policy had created a revenue shortfall to the tune of N230 billion in the last Quarter of 2015.
Troops of 152 and 155 Task Force Battalions at Operation LAFIYA DOLE in conjunction with troops of Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) from Cameroon, conducted a massive joint clearance operation of suspected Boko Haram terrorists yesterday Monday, 11th April 2016 along Nigeria-Cameroon borders. The unprecedented clearance operation swept through over 10 suspected Boko Haram terrorists hideouts along the border in which they killed 22 terrorists, arrested 3 Ameers (commanders) and rescued abducted persons.
The former National Security Adviser (NSA) Col Muhammed Sambo Dasuki (Rtd) triumphed at the Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS) Court in the first leg of his court action challenging his alleged unlawful arrest and detention without trial since December last year by the federal government. Against the objection of government, the international court in Abuja today ruled that it has jurisdiction to entertain the suit brought before it by Dasuki for the enforcement of his fundamental rights to liberty and to own property as enshrined in the provisions of the Nigerian 1999 constitution and African Charter on fundamental rights of persons. In the ruling delivered by Justice Friday Chijoke Nwoke, the ECOWAS court dismissed out-rightly the objection of the government against Dusuki suit on the ground that the objection was misconceived, frivolous and lack merit.

AL-BARNAWI was a founding member of the Jama'at Ahl as-Sunnah lid Da'wah Wa'l-Jihad (Boko Haram) and later the Amir of the break-away faction, Jama'at Ansarul Muslimim Fi Biladi Sudan (JAMBS).
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar has expressed the commitment of the Nigerian Airforce NAF to swiftly eliminating the remnants of insurgents in the North East, saying members of the sect are already surrendering in large numbers. Abubakar spoke on Friday in Abuja at a media parley to unveil activities for the 52nd anniversary of the Nigerian AirForce. He said although there are still pockets of insurgent attacks on soft targets, the battle is already being won, urging local communities to offer credible intelligence to security operatives. "Looking at where we are coming from, I think we have done substantially well. In those days in 2014, you had convoy of vehicles moving round villages and killing Nigerians but it is no longer so.
