Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung has announced that the Federal Government plans to construct a mini-stadium within the Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State; and that the proposal is already captured in the 2017 Budge.

He assured that the stadium will no doubt boost sporting activities in the area as well as spur discovery of new talents. He hoped that within a short period, identified talents would be nurtured and harvested for the glory of the nation.

Dalung made the revelation during the Sallah break while paying courtesy visit to the Emir of Kanam, His Royal Highness Alhaji Babangida Mu’azo Mohammed in his Palace at the Kanam Emirate Council, Plateau State.

The Minister thereafter requested the Emir to urgently provide land where the mini stadium would be cited as the procurement process has almost been concluded.  “My appeal to you is to provide the land for the citing of the mini-stadium within a month or two as procurement process is almost concluded”, and that “the present administration will continue to provide avenues for the youth to be constructively engaged and eradicate boredom and vices”.

He congratulated the Emir on his successful completion of the Ramadan Fast and for exhibiting exemplary leadership in handling the affairs of the Emirate Council.

Responding, the Emir of Kanam, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Babangida Mohammed commended the Minister for his symbolic visit and expressed happiness over his pledge for a mini-stadium in Kanam; promising to expedite action on provision of the required land space.

He also commended the Administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for combating Boko Haram and curtailing further spread of insurgency in the country.
