Aisha Buhari in Yola, empowers 500 women and youth
Women and youth in Adamawa state hailed the empowerment drive of the wife of the President as they received various materials meant to empower them and move them out of poverty. The event took place at Yola on Saturday, December 23, 2017.
Mrs. Buhari in her remarks at the occasion stated that the support of women and youth has been the backbone of the administration of President Buhari, therefore showing appreciation from time to time is necessary.
“I am distributing Keke NAPEP, grinding machines, sewing machines, spaghetti spiralizers, fish tanks and even cash.” She said, as she also provided financial support to tea and spiced meat vendors.
“I have taken it upon myself to support women and youth of this country in various ways to improve sustainable livelihood and contributing to the reduction of poverty among our citizens.” She said.
Speaking earlier, wife of the Governor of Adamawa state, Mrs. Maryam Bindow Jibrilla, went philosophical, saying Mrs. Buhari’s gesture symbolizes how beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it, and that kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see. She called on the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by being honest participants in the project of nation building,
Others who spoke at the occasion include wife of the Governor of Nasarawa state who urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the materials given to them to change their economic status.
Other dignitaries at the occasion include the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mrs. Gimbiya Dogara, former Deputy Governor of Plateau state Mrs. Pauline Tallen and wife of the Deputy Governor of Adamawa state.
