Aregbesola Advises Staff Against Corrupt Practices

The Honourable Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has called on members of staff of the Ministry to shun all forms of corrupt practices in the conduct of government business.

Aregbsola who gave the advice at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Abuja today, said that the fight against insecurity and corruption is a collective responsibility of all Nigerians and therefore called on staff of the Ministry to shun all forms of corruption and support the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration in its determination to improving security, revitalize the economy and entrench transparency in the affairs of governance.

Accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Barr. Georgina E. Ehuriah, MON, Ogbeni Aregbesola said that if all transactions are open and uncovered, corruption will be kept at bay and our society will be secured which will also lead to civilisation. Adding that “a people cannot be civilised if they did not look critically at their security, because, security is the heart of human civilization.”

He said that the Ministry is set to deliver on the Agenda of Mr. President, particularly in the area of security and safety. Stressing further that, “as members of staff of this Ministry, our responsibility to this nation is huge, because we are to supervise the general implementation of policies and projects, geared towards the maintenance of safety and security of Nigerians”.

The Minister called on staff to contribute their quota towards achieving the programmes and policies of government particularly in relation to the mandate of the Ministry which has to do with the provision of internal security and citizenship integrity through discipline and high dedication to service.

Advising them further, he enjoined staff to guide against stagnation but improve on their contributions towards ensuring a safe society so as to bring about socio-economic development.

He noted that, “if you are not improving on yourself you are stagnated and you begin to degenerate, we can’t afford to stagnate, we must keep improving so as to keep Nigeria safe and secured.”

While assuring them of prioritizing their welfare issues, Aregbesola disclosed, “I am here to provide, purposeful leadership, motivational and inspiring leadership, those are the key things I’m supposed to give you, but you must be also ready to deliver on the SET objectives of the present administration which is Security, Economy and Transparency (SET),” he emphasized.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman, Joint Union Negotiation Council in the Ministry, Comrade Ukpenetus Eteng Bassey pledged the total loyalty and support of staff to the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration with the view to improving security, revitalizing the economy and ensuring transparency in governance so as to move the country to the next level.
