UNIMAID Reacts to Fire Inferno in Female Hostel
The University of Maiduguri on Thursday said no life lost in the fire infarno which gutted the female hostel of the University of Maiduguri(UNIMAID), on Thursday.
Prof. Danjuma Gambo, Director Radio and Public Relations, University of Maiduguri, disclosed this while responding to enquiries to Journalist through phone call.

Gambo said that there was a minor fire outbreak in one of the female hostels in the university, but it was brought under control.
“The fire affected just one of the rooms in the hostel while no life was lost or injuries. Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the female students was cooking when the incident happened.
“The university authority is currently carrying out an investigation to determine the cause of the fire,” said Gambo.
Recalled that the fire began at about 3:10pm in one of the hostel identified as Aisha Buhari Lodge.
It was gathered that the fire destroyed students documents, cloths, hostel buildings and other properties worth millions of Naira.
It was learnt that the prompt response of in Fire Service team in the university, female students at the hostel as well as some security personnels, helped in putting off the fire at about 4:10pm, which prevented it from escalating into other parts of the hostels.
