22,360 Civil Servants Take COMPRO Exam in FCT, 36 States

No fewer than 22,360 senior federal civil servants on Wednesday sat for their Confirmation and Promotion Examination, COMPRO, at 59 designated Computer-Based Test, CBT, centres, across the country.

PRNigeria reports that the choice of the CBT exam is part of the digitalization policy of the federal Head of Service and a step towards ensuring a merit-based system, while promoting a more effective workforce.

Addressing journalists during a tour to the exam centers, on Wednesday, in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, Dr Marcus Ogunbiyi, said the process has been well-coordinated and is sure to produce efficient civil servants.

His word: “We have witnessed remarkable progress compared to the previous examinations. The candidates have also demonstrated improved computer skills.

“Computer-Based Tests (CBTs) is to enhance computer proficiency compared to paper-based tests. Civil servants now recognize that their work encompasses not only traditional paper-based tasks, but also electronic operations.

“The exams were administered simultaneously across the country at approximately 59 centers. We had 22,360 candidates participating from various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) and paramilitary organizations.

“Civil servants must successfully complete this exam to be confirmed as duly appointed civil servants.

“Our goal is to ensure that all candidates pass the exam. However, in the event of failure, candidates will have the opportunity to retake the exam.

“The exam questions cover the activities of the services with which the candidates may have been acquainted.

“The COMPRO is to test the ability, how well the officers know the public service and to test the level of their professionalism to handle the assignments you need to do as public servants”.
