Naval War College Inaugurates 22 Military Officers for Warfare Course
The Naval War Collage Nigeria, Calabar under the leadership of Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed has inaugurated 22 officers into the Naval Warfare Course.
The officers comprise 16 Nigerian Navy officers, 2 Nigerian Army officers, 2 Nigerian Air Force officers, all of the rank of Commander and equivalent.
Also as part of a military training exchange program, PRNigeria gathered that the Ghanian and Guinea Bissau Navies are represented by one officer each.
This momentous event marks the beginning of a 9-months intensive warfare training aimed at sharpening the war aptitude and cognitive skills of the participants.
The course is pivotal in providing middle cadre officers with the poise required to stem the wake of rising maritime and national security challenges in Nigeria’s Maritime Environment and the Gulf of Guinea region.

Earlier in his remark, the special guest of honor and the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Olusola Kolawole Oluwagbire, congratulated the participants on their well deserved nomination for the course and also acknowledged the Commandant and entire College community for their resilience and utmost dedication to duty.
The highlight of the event was the inaugural lecture delivered by Rear Admiral Murtala Mormoni Bashir (rtd), an esteemed expert in naval warfare and a former Commandant of the Naval War College and the National Defence College.
The lecture provided insights into evolving maritime security challenges with emphasis on the importance of strategic thinking, use of advanced technology and collaboration among post modern navies.
Distinguished guests who attended the event include senior officers of the armed forces, high-ranking officials and naval commanders.
