IlESA hails Gidado’,Raheem emergence as Council members

IlESA hails Gidado’,Raheem emergence as Council members

Iloriin Emirate Staff Association(IESA), University of Ilorin has congratulated a Deputy Director at the Directorate of Academic Planning of the University, Mr AbdulRasheed Gidado Dauda and the penultimate Chairman of the University’s chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Usman Adebimpe Raheem on their emergence as members of the institution’s Governing Council.

While Prof. Raheem was elected by the Senate of the University on Monday, Mr Dauda emerged after a keenly contested election,which was the highlight of the last meeting of the University congregation held on Thursday at the University Main Auditorium. The two events were . presided-over by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN.

The Association, in a statement signed by its Secretary-General, Mr Abubakar Imam,on behalf of its Chairman, Prof. Suleiman Funsho Ambali, said that the IESA is delighted that two of its members were found worthy of serving on the University’s Governing Council by their respective colleagues..

Mr Imam described Mr Dauda and Prof. Raheem as highly industrious, cool-headed and thoroughbred professionals and patriots who will definitely make their marks on the Council and the running of the University at large.

Mr Imam particularly commended the spirit of sportsmanship displayed by a former Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences, Prof. Mufutau Ijaiya,who contested against Mr Dauda, saying that the contest at the meeting of the University congregation was a display of confraternity.

The IESA’s chief scribe equally thanked the management of the University led by the Vice Chancellor for providing a level playing field for the contestants and their colleagues.

The statement similarly thanked members of the University Senate and the congregation for displaying huge confidence in the capacities of Prof. Raheem and Mr Dauda, respectively, as he expressed the conviction that members of the two bodies and the University community at large would not be disappointed.

Mr Imam wished the two new Council members a very peaceful, successful and rewarding tenure of office.
