JIBWIS condemns murder of chairman, calls for withdrawal of defending statement

…as Senator Yari describes incidence as barbaric

The Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis-Sunnah (JIBWIS) Zamfara State chapter has issued a stern condemnation following the brutal murder of their esteemed Chairman of its Ulama Council, Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada.

The incident, which occurred in Mada town, Gusau Local Government Area, on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024, at around 4 pm, has sent shockwaves throughout the community.

In a press release signed by Alhaji Aliyu Na-Allah Zurmi, Chairman of JIBWIS Zamfara State, the organization expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss and called for justice to be served. The leadership of JIBWIS, including Chairman Alhaji Aliyu Na-Allah Zurmi, joined mourners in attending the funeral prayer led by Sheikh Abdullahi Salisu Aleru.

Despite their grief, JIBWIS urged its members to refrain from taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing a commitment to legal actions to expose and prosecute the assailants.

Eyewitnesses in Mada town identified some members of Zamfara State’s Community Protection Guards (CPG) as the culprits, contradicting the official statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris Bala.

JIBWIS confirmed the statement made by the CPG Commander, Col Yandoto (rtd), acknowledging the involvement of his men in the tragic incident.

“We call on Sulaiman Idris Bala to withdraw his statement defending the culprits, and we caution against encroaching on the responsibilities of trained professionals,” stated Alhaji Aliyu Na-Allah Zurmi. “As an Islamic organization, we remind the spokesperson to fear Allah and speak the truth, as he will be held accountable in the hereafter.”

JIBWIS emphasized its commitment to ensuring justice is served and appealed to the public not to resort to vigilantism. The organization extended heartfelt condolences to the family of Sheikh Abubakar Hassan Mada, praying for his soul’s eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.

JIBWIS Zamfara State urged the authorities to expedite the investigation, expose the perpetrators, and ensure justice is served.

Meanwhile, the former Zamfara state Governor and Senator representing Zamfara West, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has described the killing as un-islamic and barbaric.

Senator Yari, in a statement by Chairman Publicity Committee, A A Yari Political Organization, Hon Ibrahim Muhammad, said the ugly happening has drawn us back to the Jahiliyya period whereby human blood wasn’t sacred.

He said the action of the Perpetrators shouldn’t be condoned by the State Government with a view to halting its future occurrence.

According to him, the death of the cleric has created a vacuum especially in the area of Islamic Education for the deceased had dedicated his time to the cause of Islam.

Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar condoled the deceased family, JIBWIS and the entire Muslim Ummah for the great loss and Prayed Allah to grant him Janatil Firdausi.
