NECCI PR Roundtable Celebrates Women in Technology

The NECCI Public Relations Roundtable is set to host its 24th edition on October 31, 2024, at the prestigious Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos, Nigeria. This year’s theme, “Women in Technology,” underscores the significant impact women are making and the barriers they are breaking in the tech industry. The roundtable aims to unite women leaders, innovators, and professionals in technology from across the nation to celebrate their achievements, discuss challenges, and advance the role of women in this vital sector.

Women currently represent 33% of the tech workforce, according to Deloitte, but the participation of women in tech is alarmingly below par, with less than 3 in 10 women in the field (Anitab). Experts emphasize the need for a more inclusive tech environment where women can thrive. Despite their underrepresentation, women in the tech ecosystem are dynamic and resilient, thriving as innovators and leaders. They advocate for tech leadership, digital skills, and gender equity reforms, all essential for a sustainable future.

This roundtable will feature inspiring presentations from esteemed industry leaders, including the keynote speaker, Ola Williams, CEO of Microsoft Nigeria and Ghana, under the distinguished chairmanship of Her Excellency Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Deputy Governor of Ogun State. Other prominent speakers include Ogo Ofomata, Director of Airtel Business Nigeria; Temitayo Salako, Head of Marketing at Tunga; Chisom Nwokwu, Software Engineer at Microsoft; Adora Nwodo, Digital Creator & Founder of Nexascale; and Daniella Usiade, Petroleum Engineer. Additional speakers are still pending confirmation.

Attendees can participate in networking sessions designed to foster collaboration and mentorship among key players in the technology industry, innovative business leaders, and opinion shapers in public relations and beyond. Participants will include distinguished diplomats, publicists, corporate communication executives, business development professionals, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders from various economic and social sectors relevant to the theme.

This prestigious event will also recognize outstanding contributions by women in technology with inductions into the NECCI PR Roundtable Hall of Fame.

The Women in Technology Roundtable is more than just an event; it is an initiative to empower women, promote diversity, and drive innovation in the tech sector. Participants will have the chance to learn from leading experts and stay informed about the latest technology trends.

According to Nkechi Ali-Balogun, the convener, “We are thrilled with this year’s theme, which embodies innovation and inclusion. Our primary goal is to create a platform where women can share experiences, inspire one another, and effect meaningful change in the tech industry. We will be celebrating and highlighting the significant achievements of women in technology.”
