Troops Kill Suspected Boko Haram Fighter, Recover Arms in Maiduguri Operation
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised a suspected Boko Haram fighter and recovered arms during a cordon-and-search operation in parts of the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), the military said on Thursday.
The operation, conducted under Operation Desert Sanity IV, followed intelligence reports indicating suspected terrorist activity and possible movement of suicide bombers within the metropolis.
Security sources said troops were alerted to a reported clash between Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) factions around the Malkube area of Tungushe General Area, near the Baga Road Market.

“On arrival, the troops engaged the terrorists in a gun battle, cordoned off the general area and carried out a thorough search, which led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, two AK-47 magazines, 15 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and a Samsung Fold 4 Android phone.”
The source added that one suspected terrorist was neutralised during the encounter, while no casualties were recorded among the troops.
The operation concluded at about 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, with security forces maintaining a presence in the area to gather further intelligence and clear suspected terrorist hideouts within the metropolis.
