Military Eliminates 2 ISWAP Commanders in Sambisa Forest
Two additional senior commanders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have been confirmed neutralised following recent precision air strikes on terrorist enclaves in the Sambisa general area of Borno State.
Security sources disclosed that the latest casualties include Ali G3, identified as the qaid overseeing operations in Yuwe, and Abdullahi Muga, another senior figure within the group’s command hierarchy. Their elimination follows earlier confirmation of the deaths of other key commanders, including Saddam and Saleh Garin Kago, as well as Hussaini Ubaida and Ba Alayi Benbem.

The air interdiction mission was executed by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI at approximately 6:08 a.m. on Friday. The strike followed confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions which identified structures in the Yuwe axis believed to be terrorist command centres and logistics warehouses.
According to a security source, once the targets were verified, aircraft engaged the designated locations using precision-guided munitions.
Preliminary post-strike assessments indicate that the identified command hubs and logistics facilities were successfully destroyed, dealing a significant blow to the operational capacity of insurgents operating within the Sambisa corridor.
Sources further confirmed that previously reported commanders were among those killed in the operation. Efforts are ongoing to verify the identities of additional prominent qaids and ISWAP leaders believed to have been neutralised during the strike.
Military authorities reiterated their resolve to sustain intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling terrorist leadership structures and consolidating recent security gains across the North-East.
