CDS Charges 2 National Mission Force Brigade to Intensify Anti-Terror Fight
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, has charged troops of the 2 National Mission Force Brigade to intensify efforts in combating terrorism and other security threats in Southern Kaduna and across their Joint Operations Area.
Oluyede gave the directive during an operational visit to the Brigade’s base in Samaru Kataf, Kaduna State, where he assessed the combat readiness of troops and reviewed ongoing operations.
The visit, according to military authorities, was aimed at identifying operational gaps and addressing challenges confronting personnel, with a view to strengthening ongoing efforts to curb terrorism, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other forms of criminality in the region.
Addressing the troops, the CDS expressed satisfaction with their level of alertness and professionalism but urged them not to relent in sustaining pressure on criminal elements.

“You must keep outwitting criminals by anticipating their actions and evolving effective countermeasures,” he said, while assuring them of continued support in terms of equipment, operational platforms and welfare.
Earlier, the Commander of the Brigade, Capt. O.J. Ekuma, highlighted key operational achievements, including the neutralisation of criminals, recovery of weapons and rustled livestock, rescue of kidnapped victims, and arrest of suspected bandits and their collaborators.
He added that the Brigade’s operations have significantly disrupted the movement of criminal elements within its area of responsibility, leading to improved security in Southern Kaduna.
As part of the visit, the CDS inspected ongoing Defence Headquarters projects and military deployments in the area and directed the provision of critical equipment to address identified gaps.
The high-level visit, which included senior military officers, underscored the Armed Forces’ commitment to enhancing troop welfare, strengthening operational capacity, and sustaining momentum in the fight against insecurity across the country.
