Kano Police Arraign 7 Suspects Over GSM Market Attack
The Kano State Police Command has arraigned seven suspects in connection with the violent attack that occurred at the Farm Centre GSM Market in Kano on April 28, 2026.
The Command disclosed that two additional suspects were recently arrested following what it described as a discreet and intelligence-led investigation into the incident.
The newly arrested suspects were identified as 18-year-old Sadiq Ayuba of Darmanawa Quarters and Abdulganiyu Abba, 38, of Mariri Quarters, both residents of Kano.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Sadiq Ayuba confessed during interrogation that he and other suspects were allegedly mobilised and paid by one Mallam Hassan, who is currently at large, to attack the Farm Centre GSM Market and the entourage of businessman and politician, AA Zaura.
The police said the attack resulted in the destruction of businesses and properties, including damage to a Toyota ambulance belonging to Zaura’s entourage and a tricycle owned by one Shamsuddeen Sani.

With the latest arrests, the total number of suspects apprehended in connection with the incident has risen to seven.
The suspects were on Tuesday arraigned before Magistrate Court No. 2 sitting in Nomansland, Kano, on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance, unlawful assembly, possession of deadly weapons, and mischief.
The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, reaffirmed the Command’s determination to apprehend all individuals linked to violent thuggery and public disturbances across the state.
He also confirmed that efforts were ongoing to arrest the alleged principal suspect, Mallam Hassan, who remains on the run.
Bakori commended residents for providing credible information that aided the investigation and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely intelligence.
“The Command remains committed to upholding law and order and ensuring that perpetrators of violence face the full weight of the law,” the statement added.
The police assured residents of continued efforts to maintain peace and security across Kano State.
