NAF Intensifies Non-Kinetic Operations with Medical Outreach in Maiduguri
The Nigerian Air Force has strengthened its non-kinetic counter-insurgency operations in Borno State through a three-day medical outreach and humanitarian programme conducted by the 105 Composite Group Medical Centre at the NAF Base in Maiduguri.
The initiative, organised as part of the 2026 Nurses Week celebration, focused on healthcare delivery, public sensitisation, and community engagement aimed at promoting civil-military cooperation and enhancing public trust.
The programme aligns with the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to build a people-centred and community-focused Nigerian Air Force.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, the Unit Commander, Group Captain KO Nwachukwu, praised NAF nurses for their professionalism, sacrifice, and commitment to service delivery, particularly within operational environments.
Activities during the outreach included health awareness rallies and public education campaigns on hypertension, personal hygiene, HIV prevention, and other safe health practices targeted at both military personnel and civilians.

As part of efforts to support cholera prevention in Borno State, the medical team also visited Pompomari Primary and Junior Secondary School in Maiduguri, where students were sensitised on proper hand hygiene and environmental sanitation.
The team distributed sanitary pads, liquid soap, disinfectants, and other hygiene materials to students and members of the school community.
Officials from the Borno State Ministry of Health and other public health stakeholders participated in the programme, further strengthening collaboration between the Nigerian Air Force and civil institutions in promoting community wellbeing.
The outreach highlighted the NAF’s growing emphasis on humanitarian and people-oriented initiatives as vital components of counter-insurgency operations and national security efforts in the North-East.
Military authorities noted that non-kinetic engagements remain critical in winning public confidence, improving civil-military relations, and supporting sustainable peace in conflict-affected communities.
The Nigerian Air Force has continued to combine kinetic operations with humanitarian interventions across the region as part of broader efforts to combat insurgency and stabilise affected communities.
