Kano Police Arrest 28 Suspects, Seize Dangerous Weapons
The Kano State Police Command has arrested 28 suspects during a major clearance operation targeting thuggery and related crimes within the Kano metropolis.
The three-day operation, which lasted from Saturday, July 12 to Monday, July 14, 2025, was carried out under the Command’s special crime-fighting initiative, Operation Kukan Kura. The initiative is designed to encourage community involvement in crime prevention and control efforts.

Led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, and coordinated by the Command’s Operational Commanders, the exercise resulted in the recovery of dangerous weapons and illicit drugs. Significantly, there were no reported cases of mobile phone theft or robbery during the period.
Commending the efforts of his officers, CP Bakori praised their dedication and urged them to maintain the momentum in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
“The success of Operation Kukan Kura is a clear demonstration of our resolve to engage with the public in ensuring a safer Kano,” said the Police Commissioner.
The Command also expressed gratitude to residents for their cooperation and called on the public to continue reporting suspicious activities to nearby police formations or through the Command’s emergency lines.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting all citizens and residents of the state.
