Troops Bust Illegal Arms Factory, Arrest Two in Kebbi
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have dismantled an illegal arms manufacturing syndicate in Kebbi State, recovering locally fabricated rifles and arresting two suspected gun manufacturers.
The military said the operation dealt a major blow to criminal networks supplying weapons to terrorist groups operating in the North-West.
The successful raid was carried out by troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, following credible intelligence on the activities of the suspects.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Joint Task Force’s Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops stormed a secluded compound deliberately concealed by the suspects to evade security detection.
A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of five locally fabricated AK-47 rifles and the arrest of two suspected arms manufacturers and suppliers.

The military said the operation, conducted in collaboration with other security agencies, underscored the growing effectiveness of inter-agency cooperation in disrupting terrorist logistics and criminal networks across the North-West.
It described the raid as another significant step in the ongoing campaign to curb the proliferation of illegal arms and deny terrorists access to weapons used to perpetrate violence.
The suspects are currently in military custody and undergoing preliminary interrogation.
The military added that investigations had commenced to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate, uncover their financiers and collaborators, and dismantle the entire illegal arms supply network.
The Theatre Command commended the professionalism of the troops and partner security agencies involved in the operation and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to support ongoing efforts to eliminate criminal elements and improve security across the region.
