NAF Commissions New Classroom Blocks to Boost Quality Education in Plateau Community
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned three blocks of six fully furnished classrooms at Central Pilot Primary School in Langtang, Plateau State, as part of efforts to improve access to quality education and strengthen civil-military relations.
The project, inaugurated on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the school in Langtang North Local Government Area, was executed under the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke’s Special Intervention Projects initiative. Coordinated by retired Air Vice Marshal NK Kumzhi, the intervention also included the provision of desks and chairs to create a more conducive teaching and learning environment for pupils.
Representing the Chief of the Air Staff at the commissioning ceremony, the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, said the initiative underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to promoting education, community development and national security through effective civil-military cooperation.

He noted that sustainable security can only be achieved through strong partnerships between security agencies and local communities, urging residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to enhance national security.
Speaking at the event, retired Air Vice Marshal Kumzhi described the project as a personal commitment to give back to the school that laid the foundation for his educational journey.
He said investing in education remains one of the most enduring ways of empowering future generations and driving long-term societal development.
The Plateau State Government, represented by the Chairman of the Plateau State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Sunday Samuel Amuna, commended the Nigerian Air Force for the intervention.
Amuna said the newly constructed classrooms would significantly improve access to quality education and enhance learning outcomes for children in the community.
The Nigerian Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to implementing similar people-centred projects across the country as part of its broader strategy to support education, promote sustainable community development and deepen its relationship with host communities.
