Fashola Receives FHA Annual Report

The Honourable Minister of Power Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fasola SAN, received the first Annual Report from the current Board of Directors of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) in Abuja.

The Honourable Minister expressed delight to receive the Report from the Board within a year of its inauguration. This he said demonstrates a level of accountability and commitment in the Buhari-led Administration.

In recognizing the critical role the FHA has to play in solving housing challenges faced within the country, the Minister disclosed that he was pleased with what he saw on at the FHA site in Zuba during one of the media visits. Not only did it conform to policies set down by the Ministry, it would also meet the demands of over 700 young Nigerians who are likely to seek 1 or 2 Bedroom apartments and benefit over 10,000 Nigerians in the built industry.

Mr. Fashola maintained that if the same was replicated in all the 36 states of the Federation, there would be significant achievement made in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) across the Federation.

The Honourable Minister thanked the Chairman and members of the Board for returning to give account of their stewardship and hoped that the FHA will rise to the challenge and continue to meet more housing demands as the Federal Mortgage Bank was also doing.. This in turn will open up opportunities for more mortgages with the resultant effect of more buyers.

He urged other Parastatals within the Ministry to adopt submission of their Annual Reports and further promised to read and escalate the Report with its salient points to Mr. President for further consideration and action.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman Board of Directors, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Senator Mohammed Shuaibu asserted that the Annual Report was to be the first ever prepared by any Board of the Agency to its supervising Ministry and was aimed at highlighting efforts of the Board in the first year since its inauguration on 1stMarch, 2018.
