Dambazau Unfolds 2018 MIGA Mascot, Logo
The Honourable Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau today, in his Office in Abuja, unveiled the Mascot and Logo of the 2nd edition of the Ministry of Interior Games, tagged MIGA 2018.

During the unveiling ceremony, the Minister said that the objectives of the Games is to foster intra and inter-Services relationship as well as reinforce the rapport between personnel of the Services and the civil servants in the Ministry, in line with one of the main objectives of the President Muhammadu Buhari Administration, which is to ensure a well-fit security personnel.

Gen. Dambazau further said that through the event, athletes that can represent the Ministry in National and International competitions would also be identified. He stated that the participating sports are: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Football, Handball, Karate, Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Tug of War, Volley ball, noting also that of the 90 events that will be played across the Sports; a total of 90 gold, 90 silver and 110 Bronze medals will be won.

He also said that participants in the 10 day event will be drawn from the Ministry of Interior, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service, Civil Defence Corps and the Nigeria Prisons. A total of two thousand, two hundred and twenty six participants are also expected at the event, made up of Athletes, Team, Federation and, Technical officials, as well as Medical, Media and Volunteers.

The Minister further said that the Committees should ensure that all the gaps noticed in the maiden edition held in 2016 are taken care of to guarantee an all-round success of the 2018 edition.

In his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Bello Umar, who stated that the Motto of the 2018 MIGA Games is Unity and Stability, noted that the unveiling opens the Games to the general public and sponsors adding that security agencies have been contacted to ensure safety of participants all through the period of the event in Kaduna, the host State.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Main Organizing Committee (MOC), Dr. Yakmut Saleh said that by the unveiling of the MIGA 2018 Mascot, the event has met one of the cardinal objectives of International Games.
He assured that the Sub-Committees had started work in earnest to ensure that the aim of instituting the sports fiesta is achieved.
