CCT Summons Hon Israel Goli over Abuse of Office

CCT Summons Hon Israel Ogoli over Abuse of Office

Code of Conduct Tribunal in its yesterday’s sitting ordered the appearance of a Federal Law Maker in the green chamber, Honourable Sonny Israel Goli to appear before it on the 29th January, 2020.

Justice Danladi Y. Umar, in Abuja instructed the Court Registry to issue out a subpheana compelling Mr Goli to appear before the court as a principal witness to the matter before it on the adjourned date.

He ruled on the application of the defence Counsel Mr Diriyai Sambo (SAN), “in view of the request by the learned defence Counsel to step down the matter and haven listen to both prosecution and defence counsels, it is the Tribunal view that the matter be continued.

He further ordered that the Principal Witness be served with an order to appear before the Tribunal and give testimonies in the adjourned date over the matter he alleged and failure to comply, the Tribunal would not hesitate to order for his arrest.

Meanwhile, the Prosecutor Mr Peter Danladi, told the court that the matter at the last adjourned date was scheduled for continuetion of hearing, noting that his second witness was in the court but principal Witness was still unwilling to appear.

He said Mr Goli insisted that the matter has been resolved as contained in the letter of withdrawal of his petition to Code of Conduct Bureau.

He added: if he is compel to appear his testimony would not be different from what is contained in the letter he sent to Bureau indicating withdrawal of the petition.

However, the prosecution, Mr Danladi, asked for the help of the court to compel Hon Sonny Goli to appear.
