After SAEMA-SCA, PRNigeria Honours Police Spokespersons at PR Conference
The Publisher of PRNigeria and Economic Confidential, Mr Yushau A. Shuaib has presented Security and Emergency Management AwardsSecurity and Emergency Management Awards and Spokespersons’ Communication Awards (SAEMA-SCA) to two police officers who could not attend the award ceremony held recently in Abuja.
Mr Shuaib made the presentations while honouring an invitation as a speaker on crisis management at the Police Public Relations Conference in Ibadan, Oyo State.
After his well-received lecture, he also presented copies of recent books by PRNigeria staff writers to Force Public Relations Officer Muyiwa Adejobi.
The annual SAEMA-SCASAEMA-SCA instituted by the award-winning Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR) in conjunction with the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), recognise gallantry, rescue efforts, safety measures, teamwork and outstanding contributions to security and emergency management and exceptional communication strategies.
During the SAEMA-SCA awards where officers and institutions in the military, security, intelligence, and other agencies were honoured last month, four representatives of the police bagged different awards.
While ACP Daniel Amah of Kano Police Command bagged Security Officer of the Year Award, the Police Public Relations School, represented by its Provost CP Chukwu Ojukwu, received the best Knowledge hub of the year.
Two state police command spokespersons, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu of Anambra and SP Okansami Ajayi of Kwara who could not attend the event in Abuja were presented with their Certificates of Excellence on Crisis Management and Crisis Communication respectively by Mr. Shuaib in Ibadan.

Shuaib said the officers were honoured for demonstrating professionalism in managing conflict sensitive reports through effective media relations, constructive stakeholders’ engagement, and responsible timely responses to enquiries in the South-East and North-Central respectively
He said: “The award panel of judges, chaired by retired Air Commodore Yusuf Anas, reviewed several nominations before it shortlisted the recipients for immeasurable and invaluable contributions to security, emergency management, crime prevention and strategic communication.”
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police authorities also presented certificates of commendation to seven command spokespersons during the Ibadan conference.
The seven police spokespersons bagged meritorious certificates of excellence from the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Baba.
The IGP stated this at the opening of the annual conference.
The conference with the theme “Strengthening Strategic Communication Towards Police Reforms, Security and Integrity of 2023 Election” was meant to empower police image makers on matters relating to Election Management, Law Enforcement, and Communication Strategies.
The IGP, who was represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Southwest, Mr Babatunde Kokumo, commended the award winners for their outstanding performance in their duties as image makers of the Force.
While introducing the recipients, Adejobi said that various criteria were adopted in shortlisting the nominees for the awards.
He also expressed optimism that the conference in Ibadan would equip officers with the needed skills, especially during the general elections.
The police spokespersons honoured at the occasion included SP Adewale Osifeso of Oyo, SP Haruna Abdullahi of Kano, SP Benjamin Humdeyin of Lagos, DSP Adeh Josephine of FCT, DSP Bright Edafe of Delta, DSP Daniel Ndukwe of Enugu and ASP Mu’azu M. Abubakar of Gombe States.
The programme is being attended by 37 Command Public Relations Officers covering the 36 States of the Federation and FCT, Abuja, 17 Zonal Public Relations Officers, Liaison Officers of Police Formations, as well as the staff officers of the Force Public Relations Department.
