Eid El-Kabir: FRSC Commences Nationwide Special Patrol Operations, Deploys Over 30,000 Marshals
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced nationwide Special Patrol Operations ahead of the 2026 Eid El-Kabir celebrations, deploying over 30,000 personnel, comprising Regular and Special Marshals, to ensure safer roads, hitch-free movement, and prompt emergency response across the country.
According to a statement signed by Osondu Ohaeri, Deputy Corps Commander, Corps Public Education Officer, the operations, which run from May 25 to 31, form part of the Corps’ annual strategic intervention during festive periods.
The intervention aims to reduce road traffic crashes, fatalities, congestion, and other highway emergencies associated with increased vehicular movement during Sallah.

According to the Corps, the special patrols will guarantee free flow of traffic, manage identified black spots and flashpoints, provide prompt rescue services, clear obstructions, and enforce traffic laws on major highways nationwide.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, reassured Nigerians of FRSC’s readiness in ensuring road safety during the Eid celebration.
“We call on motorists to demonstrate patience, discipline, and compliance with traffic regulations by avoiding excessive speed, dangerous overtaking, drunk driving, night travels, and other unsafe behaviours capable of endangering lives,” he said.
FRSC urged road users to cooperate with personnel deployed on highways and to utilise the toll-free emergency number 122 and the National Traffic Radio 107.1FM for prompt reporting of crashes, obstructions, and other emergencies.
